The monograph presents general linguistic foundations for addressing the oral actualisation of English small-form prose folklore texts. It integrates contemporary knowledge from disciplines related to phonetics — cognitive science, psychology and synergetics — through a systemic approach. Within a functional and pragmatic approach, the author discusses the theoretical possibilities of an energetic analysis of the functioning of the prosodic system in English small-form folklore texts. The work establishes theoretical premises and methodological foundations for an experimental phonetic study of their prosodic organisation.
