Alla Kalyta. Intonation of Statements in English Monologic and Dialogic Speech

The study presents an intonation model of English statements, which carry a particularly high information load in dialogue and monologue and communicate facts of objective reality that form the basis of communication. It identifies functional and semantic characteristics of statements conditioned by intonation and context. The intonation structure of their communicative and pragmatic types is investigated in context, and universal and distinctive prosodic features are established. An experimental phonetic study.
