The article sets out systemic and methodological foundations for studying the oral actualisation of English small-form prose folklore texts using cognitive science and synergetics. Within a functional and pragmatic approach, it discusses the theoretical possibilities of an energetic analysis of the functioning of prosodic means in these texts. Results are presented from an experimental study of the prosodic organisation of their structural elements, together with invariant intonation patterns of the genres investigated.
